Workshop Opportunity - for SEA Transitional-Aged Youth

Happy new year again! On April 14th, we entered a new year according to the traditional Theravada Buddhist lunisolar calendar. It is the year 2565, the year of the tiger, symbolic of strength, passion, and braveness. The concept of time is so interesting to me, especially when tying in racialization since some of us (people in places that haven't been colonized) literally live on a different timeline. I don't have more to say about that yet. It's just fascinating to think about how pervasive colonization is in our lives.

With that being said, I'm happy to announce that I am starting out this new year by working with the Center for Empowering Refugees & Immigrants (CERI) to co-facilitate a poetry workshop series with a couple of other dope artists in the Bay Area. We will absolutely get into history, culture, and identity to ground us and inspire the writing in the space.

It'll be fun! If you know a Southeast Asian transitional-aged (16-26) youth who would be interested, please have them apply! Participants will be stipended. It's not too late to join. Please contact zeenna.stapper@cerieastbay.org for more information.
