Devata Giving Circle Announces 2025 Honorees

Join us March 29th for DGC's International Women's Day event.

Join me, friends! Devata Giving Circle, will be hosting their first in-person International Women’s Day event in over five years on March 29, 2025 at District in Oakland. They will celebrate this occasion with four 2025 Courage & Leadership Award Honorees, who embody this year’s theme of Artists & Activists... I'm honored to be one of them!

There are some amazing women who are being recognized this year. In addition to me, they are:

  • Ratha C. Kim is an organizer, advocate, and creator. A 1.5-generation Khmer American born in a refugee camp and raised in San Francisco, she has dedicated her life to organizing, advocating, and creating spaces for Southeast Asians to connect and be heard. She’s currently the founder and creative mind behind Rajana Threads celebrating Khmer heritage and Director of Programs at the Southeast Asian Development Center.
  • Kanley Souet-Pich is an advocate and creator of space, safety, and healing for vulnerable community members who can be themselves and hold their lives, their power, and their abilities with dignity in deep connection with others. Born and raised in Oakland, Kanley is currently involved in the founding of three initiatives at the Center for Empowering Refugees & Immigrants (CERI): the New Light Program and support groups Holding Sotha and Punlu Setrei Khmer.
  • Dr. Christine Su is an author and scholar. Christine is currently Visiting Faculty of Southeast Asian Studies and History at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell (UMASS Lowell). An editor of The Stilt House, she is also the author of Voices of a New Generation: Cambodian Americans in the Creative Arts (2021), which presents the multifaceted experiences of fifteen Cambodian American artists from the 1.5 and 2.0 generations, including martial arts experts, filmmakers, fashion designers, and musicians.

I'm excited to see everyone. DGC funds organizations that empower and advance the leadership of Cambodian girls and women, including AYPAL, where I am Co-Director. I'm proud to partner with them to carry out AYPAL's mission, and join them in asking for support to carry out theirs. Purchase tickets here.
